- Safety, Ethics & Professional Practice
A professional sound healer must know not only how to create sound, but when, where, how much and for whom it should be used. This module prepares you to conduct sound-healing sessions with safety, sensitivity, ethical awareness and professional responsibility. You will learn how to understand individual needs, create a comfortable healing environment, recognize contraindications, respect professional boundaries and know when a practice should be modified, stopped or referred to an appropriate healthcare professional.
✅ Ethics of a Sound-Healing Practitioner – safety, respect, inclusion, honesty, confidentiality, appropriate practitioner–client boundaries and the essential qualities of a sincere healer
✅ Client Intake, Consent & Scope of Practice – basic case history, informed consent, understanding individual needs, professional limitations and avoiding inappropriate diagnosis or unsupported therapeutic claims
✅ Contraindications, Precautions & Referral – recognizing situations requiring special care or modification, including pregnancy, hearing sensitivity, trauma and relevant health conditions, and knowing when to refer to a qualified healthcare professional
✅ Sound-Level, Volume & Hearing Safety – conducting an individual volume and sensitivity check, understanding that sound tolerance differs from person to person, and controlling bowl and gong intensity accordingly
✅ Safe Positioning, Props & Healing-Space Setup – creating comfortable lying, sitting and therapeutic positions using bolsters, cushions, blankets and other props, together with appropriate room arrangement and instrument placement
✅ Trauma-Sensitive & Client-Centred Practice – respectful communication, permission before working close to or on the body, recognizing discomfort, and knowing when to adjust, pause or completely stop a session
✅ Professional Practice & Future Career Guidance – session preparation, post-session integration and care, practitioner responsibility, professional conduct, and practical guidance for developing a safe, authentic and sustainable career in sound healing
