Master the Art of Teaching

Great yoga teaching is more than demonstrating postures—it is the art of creating a safe, inclusive and transformative learning experience. In this module, you will learn how to understand the students in front of you, organize the teaching space, communicate through clear language and confident presence, give effective cues, offer consent-based guidance, and adapt postures using variations and props. You will develop the practical skills needed to teach different asana families while respecting each student’s experience, anatomy, ability and individual needs.

✅ Create a Transformative Teaching Space: Learn how classroom setting, orientation, cleanliness, ventilation, lighting and organization influence the student experience. Understand class levels, prerequisites, etiquette and how to create a welcoming environment for learning, healing, self-exploration and inner transformation.

✅ Teach the Person in Front of You: Develop the ability to observe students instead of teaching a memorized performance. Learn to adapt your approach according to age, experience, mobility, body proportions, health considerations, energy level and individual goals.

✅ Voice, Language and Teacher Presence: Practise clear verbal instruction, demonstration, pacing, silence, tone, projection and inclusive language. Learn how to communicate with confidence while remaining calm, compassionate, respectful and authentic.

✅ Instruct Asanas Clearly and Safely: Learn how to guide students into, maintain and release postures; coordinate movement with breath; communicate alignment principles; identify common compensations; and explain the purpose and key actions of each pose.

✅ Cueing, Adjustments, Variations and Props: Develop concise verbal and visual cues, consent-based physical guidance and appropriate hands-off alternatives. Learn to use blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, walls, chairs and other props to make postures safer, more accessible and more effective for different bodies.

✅ Teach the Major Families of Asanas: Build practical teaching skills for Surya Namaskara, standing poses, core practices, balances, backbends, twists, forward bends, hip-opening poses, inversions, restorative postures and Savasana—including preparation, progression, counterposes, modifications and contraindications
